The Institute of Design, Tourism and Social Technologies (IDTST) was founded by the solution of TSUS Academic Council (Togliatti State University of Service - nowadays VRSUS) and approved by VRSUS Rector’s order No. 03/03 of 10.01.2007. Opening of IDTST is predetermined by the increased need of the social sphere in highly qualified staff, in particular the tourist industry.
Work with people demands a certain universalization of knowledge and practical skills. Tourism is now one of the most highly profitable branches of economy, an important factor of development as the countries as a whole, and certain regions in particular. But its development is impossible without high-quality training of specialists. It confirms and proves the increased social need of society for graduates of ITST.
The institute is founded on the basis of "Socio-Cultural Service and Tourism" Department (training of specialists for the industry of hospitality is being conducted since 1996) and "Social Technologies" Department (training of specialists on social work – since 1994).
Total amount of students being trained at Institute on a full-time department is over 700 students.
At ITST there are 69 highly skilled teachers, 70% from them have scientific degrees and ranks of the associate professor, 18% - a Doctor's degree.
